With a record setting number of entries in 2008, our judges for the SNA Local Community Web Site Contest were faced with some very challenging decisions this year. This contest represents the top Web initiatives from community and suburban newspapers across North America. We're extremely proud of all the Web sites that entered the contest and the amazingly hard work and innovation that goes into creating a winning site.
And the Winners Are...
Taking top honors on the daily side with 21 total awards is Lee Enterprises. Metroland Media Group tops the chart on the weekly side with 35 combined awards. Other impressive performances include: GateHouse Media with 10 awards; Shaw Suburban Media with 8 awards; Ottaway Newspapers and Small Newspaper Group both with 5 awards.
Web Site of the Year
Web Site of the Year applies to any site produced by a local newspaper. Winners in this category provide overall excellence including design, ease of navigation, content, reader interactivity, innovation and advertising.
