Tennessee Announces Online Ad Network
Tennessee Press Service partners with Digital Press Consortium to Launch Online Advertising Network.
Knoxville, TN, and CAPE MAY, NJ – Tennessee Press Service (TPS), the business affiliate of the Tennessee Press Association, is partnering with the Digital Press Consortium (DPC) to establish an online advertising network. Through this effort, TPS will link the websites of member newspapers to give advertisers ready access to a combined audience of online Volunteers.
While media choices are expanding rapidly, studies continue to show that newspapers, both in print and online, remain the leading source of local information. These strong local audiences represent immense value to advertisers. Linking these local audiences via a network has long been the work of state press services, including the Tennessee Press Service. Now, as newspapers see the need to devote more resources to online publishing, they are also seeking to garner more revenue from their online operations. With 80% or more of online advertising being placed via networks, the establishment of online networks becomes especially important for the newspaper industry.
“Tennessee Press Service exists to serve our member newspapers, and to serve people through our member newspapers,” said Greg Sherrill, executive vice president. Sherrill added, “An important part of our mission is to help our members adapt to the evolving business environment. Online ad networks are an important part of our industry’s evolution and a logical extension of the advertising services we already offer.”
Regarding the DPC partnership, Sherrill said, “We knew the DPC was already working with other state newspapers associations, and they offered the sort of service we were seeking – streamlined ad placement and consolidated, automated tracking of ad delivery. The DPC’s strong commitment to our industry is evident in their work.”
Preston Gibson, Vice President of Solution Delivery for the DPC, said, “It is our privilege to help our industry make the transition to online services. Newspapers are achieving a broader audience reach than ever before and connecting this audience with advertisers, for collective benefit. We are excited to be working with the Tennessee Press Service in this important work.”
